Enable Home Button on Android Build

Some people may not know this, but as there is no HOME or BACK button you need to use the ADB command and send an input keyevent as per the instructions (3 for HOME, 4 for BACK). For those testing or playing, not very fun.

While this build is not exactly... "ready", you can have a HOME button.

Go to the APPS menu and click on SPARE PARTS. Under GENERAL (third last on my menu) there is END BUTTON BEHAVIOR. Click on that and select GO TO HOME.

Now when you press the power button it will go to the HOME screen. Hold down the button to turn it off still, this does disable the ability to put the screen to sleep with a button, but it times out quickly anyway.

Although it might be best to select "Home, then sleep' . This way, you can do both.

I have got the back and menu key mapping working with the home button on the touchpad being used as the back button and the down volume key used for menu. There is probably other combinations that might feel more natural to some people in which case just follow ScoTT3r's instructions and modify them how you see fit.

All you need to do is extract the keylayout folder from the above download into whatever directory you have adb in. Boot into android on the touchpad and then run:

adb PUSH keylayout system/usr/keylayout

from cmd prompt on your computer.

Reboot back into android and you should have back and menu working

Obviously you will simply need to use

novacom put file://tmp/system/system.tar.bz2 < system.tar.bz2

in step 5 instead of the original file name

and use

tar -xvf system.tar.bz2

in step 6

I know it's nothing revolutionary and it probably won't help the 90% of people that could do this in their sleep but for the few people that are struggling it may help.

That seems like a lot more work than needed. All I did was just side-load a good file explorer (I used root explorer) and just edit the 4 files needed to bind the buttons. Took about 2 minutes to do.
